
MRC WorksMRC WORKS focuses on strategies for recognising the value of, and building upon, prior learning, on developing skills, and on developing various pathways to further training and employment. It does this through the volunteer program, IT and communications training, and Productivity Places Program (PPP) training with various partners.
Registered Training Organisation (RTO)MRC WORKS is a registered training organisation providing cultural-awareness training and a number of certificate training courses, and training and employment initiatives with partner organisations, particularly TAFE SA.
Current ProjectsChatterbox ProgramChatterbox helps participants with their oral communication, which is important when presenting to employers. In partnership with Anglicare SA, the MRCSA conducts regular workshops on employment pathways for young people from new and emerging communities.
IT ProjectIn partnership with TAFE SA, SA Works, the MRCSA trains young people in information technology. The IT project targets young people from new and emerging communities who are not engaged in work or school. The project provides career planning, counselling sessions, and linkages to other training opportunities and/or work experience.
Productivity Places ProgramThis project provides training and work experience for young people wanting to enter the retail industry. It is delivered in partnership with TAFE SA, Service Skills SA, and ARA Jobs.
Cultural Awareness and Cultural Competency TrainingThe MRCSA is a member of the Multicultural SA panel of cultural-awareness trainers. Training has been conducted for the following organisations and services: disability services, local government, youth services, Attorney Generals Department – Justice Unit, Australian Bureau of Statistics, job/employment agencies, health agencies, libraries, and regional employers and industry sectors. Mental Health Stigma Reduction: Train the TrainerIn partnership with Multicultural Mental Health Australia, the MRCSA provides training for community trainers in stigma reduction in metropolitan and regional South Australia, and convenes the SA Multicultural Mental Health Stigma Reduction Network.
Employment InitiativesThe MRCSA collaborates and partners with key employers in retail, food, hospitality, viniculture, construction and engineering, and aged care and community services to achieve work experience and employment opportunities for our client groups.
